to Ben's website

The purpose of this site is to share with you a little of the life and times and vast experience that Ben has accumulated over many years.

All the world knows that there have been many tragedies in Northern Ireland during the 32 years of the troubles.

Ben Forde is one who perhaps is more aware of them than most. For Ben was a policeman, a member of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Royal Ulster Constabulary.

His Christian faith and love of Gospel music sustained him in many ways while coping with terrorist atrocities.

Some of these are referred to in the books he has written over the years about some of the experiences he has dealt with.

A total of 3,327 people were murdered including 302 police officers and 655 soldiers. Some 45,769 people seriously injured and maimed.

We trust you will enjoy browsing through the samples of articles, stories, reflections and music on this site and that your life will be enriched and encouraged.

Ben Forde

“Each generation must face its own special problems, but God’s plan is relevant for all generations. When your great-grand parents lived, God worked personally in the lives of his people. When your great-grandchildren live, God will still work personally in the lives of his people. He is the only one who sees a hundred years from now as clearly as a hundred years ago. When you are concerned about the future, talk with God, who knows the generations of the future as well as he knows the generations of the past.”

(Quote from New Living Translation Bible, Tynedale House Publishers)

"But watch out! Be careful never to forget what you yourself have seen. Do not let these precious memories escape from your mind as long as you live! And be sure to pass them on to your children and grandchildren."

Deuteronomy 4 v 9

Ben releases new book

Ben’s new book of ‘hope’ goes electronic for today’s war-zone soldiers

Local author and former RUC Officer, Ben Forde has published an updated version of his 1979 book – Hope in Bomb City.

Speaking ahead of the launch Ben said: “Family life provided precious time spent with my wife and children, it provided sanity and love as a vital antidote to the madness and hatred that I and my comrades had to face on a daily basis during those years. But it was my faith that was my spiritual rock, and from faith springs hope, which is the subject of both my original book and this new, extended edition: Hope in ‘Bomb City’ – Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow.”  More
